DIGITAL CSIC, Peer Community In (PCI), and COAR are pleased to announce the launch of an innovative new service that allows researchers working at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) to request a review from PCI, a non-profit and non-commercial organization offering high-quality peer reviews, recommendations and publications of scientific articles.
Now, with the click of a button, CSIC researchers who deposit a preprint into their repository can request reviews and validation from the PCI research community, along with a public recommendation for their preprint.
Peer Community In represents one of a growing number of external peer review services that are increasingly being used by researchers around the world. These scholar-led initiatives, already endorsed by many funders such as Coalition S, provide an efficient route for publishing in open access at no cost to authors or readers and offer a compelling alternative to the high-cost commercial journals.
With the growing popularity in the research community of overlay peer review services, the COAR Notify Initiative has been developed to provide a standard way of communicating across repositories and peer review services. With the click of a button – CSIC researchers who deposit a preprint into their repository can now request reviews and validation from the PCI research community, along with a public recommendation for their preprint.
The COAR Notify Initiative is part of the “COAR Next Generation Project” and funded by Arcadia, a charitable foundation that works to protect nature, preserve cultural heritage and promote open access to knowledge. COAR Notify is being adopted by a growing number of services and platforms in the scholarly ecosystem to support more seamless interactions between repositories / preprint servers and peer review services, contributing to the advancement of this exciting new model of scholarly publishing.
